Article on Enterprise 2.0 tools

Christian S. Lausten (Seismonaut) was interviewed by ErhvervsBladet on Enterprise 2.0 tools.

Christian talks on reinforcing collaboration, creativity and connectedness in the article "Tre gode gratis programmer til kontoret" (in Danish) and wraps is up at the Seismonaut blog which is always a good read.

OurHoist is mentioned in relation to team collaboration; the tool enables teams to work together across organisational and geographical boundaries.

Christian Schwarz Lausten says (translation from Danish):

We use OurHoist at Seismonaut when we work together with others. While having wikis, blogs and file-sharing, the user profiles add an extra dimension. That way socializing becomes part of the work - which is of great value when collaborating online.

Come prepared and leave prepared: Social tools can enhance the quality of meetings

Meetings are important. And besides the fact that once in a while everybody's fed up with them, well-prepared meetings provide important results and momentum. The challenge is to encourage well-preparedness and only to meet face-to-face when the outcome gains from it and the time and travel is worth it. Some organizations and networks are baseless or spread around the globe, making face-to-face meetings costly. An easy accessible place to share information and carry out conversations is a good base. Either it's a way to collaborate without having to meet physically or it is a way to exchange material or agendas and making sure everyone's on the same page cutting down on meeting time.

Not all face-to-face meetings have been properly prepared

Presentation at Dansk Industri

Yesterday, Anders Pollas and I made a presentation for members of the network of R&D directors within Dansk Industri (the Confederation of Danish Industries)

The presentation was entitled "Effective dialogue and knowledge sharing across organisational and geographical boundaries". The event was hosted by Damcos , a Danish company delivering marine tank management products for the ship, oil and gas industries worldwide, recently acquired by Emerson and was followed by a lovely dinner at Hotel Kirstine.

Wiki as intranet

This Thursday we're talking about wikis in relation to intranets at VidenDanmark.

OurHoist will be demoed live. All participants already have access to an OurHoist site and we'll continue working with the site during the seminar. We'll talk about conversation and wiki collaboration.

We're in good social media company: Translucent Technologies and Social Square will be there as well. If you want to come, sign up here.

Update. Bent Schou is happy with the event and OurHoist (roughly translated from Danish):

The conversation went on after the event and I'll dare to say that we have never experienced so much value from such an event, knowledge and networking-wise.

Web 2.0 presentation at Dansk IT

Yesterday I did a presentation on web 2.0 for members of Dansk IT in Århus.

Slides below (in Danish). As always, slides don't always convey the message very well without the actual presentation of them. My main points: Web 2.0 is marketing talk but is - if we imagine that the term exists - about people and relations.

Presentation at IKI

Jon Froda and I had the pleasure of doing a presentation at an IKI-event hosted by Crossroads Copenhagen earlier this week.

The presentation was entitled Corporate agility: Social media in organisations and companies and was followed by a one hour hands-on OurHoist session.

The slides reflect a quick run-through of social media in general and some questions to ask yourself if you want a suitable platform for communicating and refining knowledge in teams. Slides are mostly in Danish.

Hoist news update

We've been a little quiet online lately. But that doesn't mean that nothing is going on. On the contrary:

Down at Hoist HQ we're busy talking about OurHoist while we continue to develop. Updates have been rolling out and we've got a little feature up our sleeves to be announced shortly. Nothing fancy, just something that will make using OurHoist even more enjoyable for the whole team.

Jesper, one of our founders, is leaving these days. After we launched, he wanted to pursue a career in a bigger company where his skills could come to good use. We wish him good luck. See you around, Jesper.

The Danish Drupal community is picking up pace. We've had the pleasure of hosting several of the gatherings and hope to see some of the serious players we haven't met yet at the next meetups.

Hoist featured in Vidensbank for nye Medier

Hoist is featured in one of the latest articles on Vidensbank for nye Medier (in Danish) where we talk about OurHoist and building social tools for teams.

We had a good talk with Tine Stevnhoved on using social tools for knowledge sharing and team collaboration over some coffees at Sort Kaffe og Vinyl.

Our take on a social tool developed for professional use in teams is to integrate what we think makes sense from the world of so-called '2.0' (a term we're not all that pleased with as it's pretty un-precise and buzzed up) with a good, common sense approach to the requirements businesses and networks naturally have when using the system as a substantial part of their daily work. Safety, billing and scalability can be fine-tuned to this context while keeping the advantages of a hosted, web-native application.

Welcome to True North Labs

We're the team behind Hoist, a company we founded recently. We used to run Froda & Bindslev and Geezer - now we're building our first product, OurHoist - a hosted web application for teams.

Expect posts on social media, technology for people, building web apps and removing friction. We believe that social media web apps are a vital part of collaboration in networks, organisations and businesses.

Also blogging is Andreas Haugstrup of solitude.dk fame.
